Here is your opportunity to try kayaking AND exploring the estuary portion of the Wappingers Creek.

The guided trip will include basic kayak instruction, seeing the “Falls of the Wappingers”, gliding past a 19th century water powered factory complex, seeing the river hamlet of New Hamburg from the water and observing abundant wildlife.

Equipment
Kayaks, PFDs and paddles supplied.

Wear comfortable, quick drying (non-cotton) clothes and shoes that can get wet. Bring sunglasses, hat, sunscreen and camera.

Fee

Minimum Age
Minimum age is 14. Those 14-17 must be accompanied on the trip by a parent or guardian.

Starting Location
Starting location: The (Future) Lower Wappingers Creek Community Boathouse, 105 Market Street, Village of Wappingers Falls. Transportation available from the New Hamburg Metro North Station with prior arrangement.

Event Organization
This program is organized by the Town of Poughkeepsie Recreation Department in cooperation with the Village of Wappingers Falls Recreation, and the Town of Wappinger Recreation Department.

Guides/certified instructors and equipment supplied by The River Connection.

Metro North
Transportation from the New Hamburg Metro North is available with prior arrangement. Contact 845-485-3628.
